Were any other Bostonians at Avalon last night?? For one, I thought David was awesome. He was so Euro... not too proud to play exactly what we were all looking for: "Love Don't Let Me Go," "Used to Be the One," and "Stay," among others. From other artists... let's see... Aretha's "Pride (A Deeper Love)" Chris Lake "Changes," Prodigy "Breathe." But he also threw in a few American gems: Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Blur "Song 2," and elements of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Michael Jackson, for measure. Random! Kind of kitschy, but he made it work.
His set was way longer than I would have expected. A solid two hours... not bad. And while I was surrounded by WAY too many chicks in gross tube tops (hint: if your shirt says "BEBE" on it in big shiny bedazzled studs... go HOME!), it was a very good time.
Today I paid the price, if you know what I mean :) But totally worth it. SO much energy, and pretty solid debut considering this is his first stateside club tour.
Anyone else out there check it out??
Lotsa love,
JADE
