Back to school with ADAM BARTA!

Hi guys,

You've read about him in our pages before, but we've got some great news for you about one of my favorite DIVOs... Adam Barta.

We've just learned Adam has signed with EsNtion Records! He's in great company there... they're also home to Danielle Bollinger and Trixie Bizness... a good sign that Adam's going to see a major surge in demand and popularity. Congrats, Mr. Barta! :)

His first single for the label, "Standing in the Rain," will be coming out in a few weeks. So we had a quick chat with Adam to talk about his exciting news. In the spirit of our monthly theme, we also asked him to revisit his "school days." And finally, given the headline on everyone's tongue, we asked for HIS take on a certain pop princess.

Let's let the DIVO speak, shall we? :)

QUESTION: What are you most looking forward to about working with EsNtion?
ADAM BARTA: They are an amazing label associated with Warner Music Group, with some of the dance world's top talent. I think they are really going to foster my career to its next plateau, and help me cross over into the mainstream with my music like never before. It's an honor to be among the ranks of the top, or... as Hilary Duff says it best in her single "Gypsy Woman": "Congratulations, you've joined the ranks of all the rest!"

Q: Tell us about your upcoming single, "Standing in the Rain."

ADAM BARTA: It actually was the creation of DJ Russ Harris, on whose album it will be initially released [Ear Therapy, October 8th]. Russ said it was one of those songs he had stuck in his head for years and finally got around to materializing for this album. Russ did an amazing edit of it, and we are currently looking at some of the industry's top producers for some hot remixes.

Q: Okay, here's a fun question for ya. Put your iTunes library on shuffle... and tell me the first ten songs that come up! No cheating, Adam! (Oh, and if you like Adam's taste, click the link to download 'em yourself ;) )
ADAM BARTA:
1 - Lindsay Lohan, Rumors
2 -
Britney Spears, Toxic
3 - Britney Spears, Gimme More
4 - Patti Labelle, On My Own
5 - Rihanna, Umbrella
6 - Pink, Who Knew
7 - Boyzone, Baby Can I Hold You Tonight
8 - David Bowie, As the World Falls Down
9 - Kim Sozzi, Alone [Whaddaya know... our DIVO of the Day is listening to our DIVA of the Month! haha]
10 - Nick Lachey, What's Left of Me

Q: You had a breakthrough video hit with "I Wanna Hold You." At the
end, your character leaves the club with a guy on one arm, a girl on
the other. Where'd that provocative idea come from?

ADAM BARTA: It was sort of a play on all these videos where you have these guys in a club macking it to a scantily clad girl. If you notice, Michelle (my love interest in the video) is dressed very elegantly and upscale. We wanted to play around with the idea of leaving it open that you could be a guy or a girl and draw your own conclusions as to what happened after we all left the club.... choose your own ending! It definitely worked because it was #1 on MTVs LOGO network for four weeks, and is still on the countdown in the top four, 12 weeks strong!

Q: We have an ongoing "Back to School" theme on the blog for September. So, Adam... which of these yearbook titles would YOU be most likely to get... and why??

- Prom King
- Class Slacker
- Star Athlete

- Theater Freak

- Teacher's Pet

- Best Dressed

ADAM BARTA: I have to do this by process of elimination. Anyone that knows me knows I totally believe in hard work, so "Slacker" is out. I am not uber athletic... I enjoy swimming and rollerblading, but that's almost as far as it goes... so "Star Athlete" is out. I love theater, but I probably couldn't name more than three or four Broadway musicals that are out right now. And I certainly wouldn't say "Teacher's Pet." So given the choices I am going to have to say "Prom King"... because I like to lead by being diplomatic to everyone, love teamwork, and like to set good examples for those following in my footsteps!

Q: Finally, the headline on everyone's mind: Britney Spears. VMA. Your thoughts. GO!
ADAM BARTA: Admittedly, it wasn't a good performance. But I am still pulling for her
to make a great comeback. "Gimme More" is a great song and I think as she gets back into the swing of things, she will continue to shine and surprise us all. As for her body, I think we have to take into account that she's had two kids, and still looks damn good... she's a role model
for all the mothers out there, that they can still be hotties!

Agreed, Adam!!

Ta for now,
JADE
