Our May DIVO of the month, Dubfire, can now add a new title to his long list of credentials (you know, DJ, producer, ladies' man...). He's now a Record Label boss!
The new label is called SCI + TEC DIGITAL AUDIO, and it will be (as the name suggests) a Digital only label. In other words, the death of the conventional record label - and the physical album! - continues.
The label's first release will be the single "I Feel Speed." It's a cover of the Love + Rockets song, and was originally released on Dubfire's Global Underground compilation, Taipei. But it makes perfect sense for the first release on Dub's new label, as it is the first single to feature his own vocals! What a multi-tasker ;) That single is going to drop on November 23!
Shortly afterwards, the second single on the label will be Dubfire + Simi "Angels over Naples" - their ode to current Italian techno.
As you can probably guess, Dubfire will now release his solo work exclusively on his own label (though no telling what will happen to the stuff he does as part of the famous Deep Dish duo). But Sci + Tec will also focus on new artists that get a vote of confidence from this DJ master.
Industry news... gotta love it!
