TOTAL POP STAR, IS IT LEGAL?

TOTAL POP STAR, one of the largest online singing competition might be in hot water if proven to be violating certain U.S. and Interstate Laws.

This surfaced after it was discovered that Total Pop Star has neither been licensed nor registered at Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI), The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), and SESAC.

ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC's logo has been embedded at the bottom of every Total Pop Star page with this inscription: "This competition maintains current public performance licenses from the following agencies: BMI, ASCAP & SESAC"

ASCAP, SESAC, and BMI are regulating bodies to protect the rights of performers, composers and authors as mandated in the Performing Rights and Performance Rights under the provision of the U.S Copyright Law.

Following the May 30th event which catapulted some of the Season One finalists votes back to zero due to some alleged glitch in the voting system, one curious contestant who refuses to be named searched Total Pop Star's licenses through the web, and not a single registration was found.

Furthermore, it was found that Mr. Andrew Van Slee, Total Pop Star Executive Producer and his Independent Film Alliance IFAdotCOM LLC) which maintains the Total Pop Star site continues to operate Despite being served with an AMMENDED DESIST AND REFRAIN ORDER for violations of Section 25110 of the California Corporations Code. Subconsequently, Mr. Van Slee was facing some more charges for violating the IOWA Code 502.201 or the California Securities Law in another case of Desist and Refrain Order issued to him and his Extraordinary Media Group and Peroxide Pictures, LLC. Peroxide Films was created to produce the movie "Totally Blonde" which continues to be on sale.

Some Total Pop Star supporters and contestants has expressed their concerns through email. However ISSUES ONLINE still haven't heard any word or reactions from TPS Management and Administration to clear themselves off this issue as of press-time.

  2. May I know what happened to the Season 1 Winner and the other 5 Finalists. Haven't they come up with an album yet? I haven't heard from them for quite sometime.

  3. IT'S A SCAM! BEWARE! ANDREW VAN SLEE AND RICHARD WAGNER (the wannabe host) are CON ARTISTS THAT EMBEZZLE MONEY FROM HARDWORKING CLASS PEOPLE THRU A BOGESS PRE-IPO SCHEME. THEY RAN A SCAM IN IOWA BEFORE THIS ONE. DO YOUR RESEARCH AND BEWARE.It's also sad how hard up Joey Lawrence and Debbie Gibson our to jump on this project(FOR THE CASH OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S POCKETS) without researching the scammers putting it on.

  4. AGAIN, IT IS A TOTAL SCAM AND I KNOW FOR A FACT THEY ARE DOING A HEAVY UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION BECAUSE I USED TO WORK,WAS CONTACTED BY DETECTIVES, AND GAVE AUTHORITIES KEY INFORMATION. THERE RUNNING A PRE-IPO SCHEME WHERE THEY PAY EMPLOYEES UNDER THE TABLE TO MAKE CALLS TO THE MASSES AND TO SELL A PRESS PACKAGE THAT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE SO A COUPLE BITE ON IT.

  5. I also worked for Andrew Van Slee and Richard Wagner. I remember how he would hire telemarketers every week off craigs list to then fire them a week later and then hire another round of telemarketers off craigs list and then fire them.(round and round again) He did this so nobody would catch on to the illegal pre-ipo operation and how he paid everyone under the table. I also remember calling people and they new exactly who Andrew Van Slee was and his fake company ifa.com and they were livid. They said he stole there money and never paid them back for the money they put up for Totally Blonde movie. They also said they were scammed by these guys. Seriously everybody go do your research and stop wasting your time on total pop phony. Slee doesn't know Michael Buble either or he would have had him on the show and then if he did it would be fake also. Con artists - Andrew Van Slee and Richard Wagner - I don't even think these are there real names

  6. So funny! I had a friend talk to me about this Total Pop Star competition and he said this guy Andrew Van Slee runs it who worked with Michael Buble who I know through friends of mine in the music industry. I called around to get an answer from Michael and or an associate to see if he knew Andrew Van Slee and the guy had know clue who the hell I was talking about. Total Con Artist! Ha! Suckers!

  7. Yes, Van Slee is a con artist. I was one of the suckers who put up a fair sum of money to help him fund a film a few years back. Guess what? No film. No refund. No phone calls or emails returned. You've been warned. If you do business with this guy, you're probably going to get burned.

  8. NEWS FLASH!!!
Total Pop Star has announced that Season 2 has been extended to October 25, 2009!

Barely 21 days to go before Season 2 ends, but on December 13, 2008, they announced that Season 2 has been extended to October 25 2009!

With no further updates on TPS site, no news about their Season 1 winners and no records or album on the works... Are TPS hiding something? Or does that give them leeway or time to straighten out the issues?

JUST A REMINDER: IFAdotCOM LLC, the maintainer of Total Pop Star were still facing an AMMENDED DESIST AND REFRAIN ORDER for the sale of unqualified non-exempt securities in violation of Corporations Code Section 25110 of the California Corporations Code. Do your online research and find out more!

  9. I can tell you FIRST HAND that nothing has happened with the winner from the first season NOR any of the others. What's even more frustrating is that each one of them had to sign a contract that was only in Andrews favor. There has been folks that invested a lot of money and time into the first season that were told they would benefit from TPS and never have. Andrew is looking to sell the site and I feel sorry for all the singers that are up there now thinking he's going to take them to "STARDOM" He's done nothing yet and he's only buying time so he doesn't have to put out any more money for a second season winner. And BTW His claim to Michael Buble is bogas. Michael was already signed with David Foster. David to Michael is like Clive to Whitney. So beware of TPS's tactacts. They are shrud and one sided. He will make you sign them before you ever get the chance to go out to California and even compete to see who wins. Then he's got you for years, making money off of all the gigs you do. (Without any support from him at all)You will get more exposure off YouTube than you ever will off of TPS. Hell people don't even know about TPS unless they happen to find out thru their friends. Andrew doesn't advertise, and don't let him tell you different. If he does it's a very small amount. What good is a win if you never have a chance to get out there. My advise to everyone is NOT to sign that contract. Make SURE because you'll never have the chance to enter anything else. EVER!!!!! GET OFF OF TPS!!!!!
Maybe if more people read this and more came forward we could put a stop to his madness.
Contact some of the folks from the first season. I'm sure the'll tell you all about Andrew and totalpopstar. Then if you're still stupid enough to fall for their promise to "STARDOM" SHAME ON YOU

    OUR CLAIM...

Andrew Van Slee cannot do that. He and TPS Host Richard Wagner are still facing AMMENDED DESIST AND REFRAIN ORDER for violating the California Business Code (Corporations Code Section 25110) by selling unqualified non-exempt securities in two separate cases: one from his Total Pop Star's INDEPENT FILM MAKERS ALLIANCE LLC, and another by his EXTRAORDINARY MEDIA GROUP and PEROXIDE PICTURES, LLC - Producer of the movie "Totally Blonde"

He would have make it worse and face more serious charges if he sell Total Pop Star site. And considering the bad reputation from the 1st Season, we doubt if TPS would ever gain back respect and credibility even with the new management, unless they really ruled out/ clears off the past issues.
